OT Chisel Points-left or right

I have a DMI mounted chisel plow I pull with my rusty 14. I got it out the other day and noticed I needed to replace a couple of chisel points on it. The chisel points are about 14 inches long and curve to throw dirt either to the left or right and they are pointed on both ends.

I'm feeling pretty stupid now because I thought if you turned then over to use the other half they would throw dirt the other way-they dont, they come in a left and a right.

How should they be put on? Left then right then left then right? I think they need to be configured so the furrows are all the same height. I'm hoping Bermuda Ken, or someone, can give a simple explanation (for a simple mind).
Thanks,
Paul

I had mine set alternately left-right across the gang and then the opposite way (again alternating left-right) on the following gang. Not a perfectly level field when I got done, but close enough. If you want a level field you need just a straight spike, not a twisted one.

I believe they alternate by gangs, first gang will throw to the right, second gang to the left, and third gang back to the right. Not necessarily in that order.
