I have a super a in original condition , Is it positive ground? It has a generator, would this be 6 or 12 volts?I purchased a new 6 volt battery but it hardly turns it over , a 12 volt boost starts it really quick.Possibly the battery is no good? Anyone have ideas.

CHECK THE CONTACTS IN THE SWITCH THAT IS HELD ON THE STARTER WITH TO SCREWS AND MAKE SURE THE STUD THE CABLE GOES TO IS TIGHT IN THE SWITCH.AND THAT THE PULL ROD IS NOT BINDING UP CAUSING SWITCH TO NOT GET A GOOD CONECTION

Good heavy duty cables with clean connections makes a world of difference. I thought my battery cables were ok until I took it completely off. Then I could see that about half of the wires were corroded in to down inside of the insulation. Make sure that the ground cable has a good connection to the tractor.

Should be 6v pos ground. 1ga cables and clean starter sw on top.Mite need new brushes and the commutator cleaned but 6v should turn it over good.

If the info already supplied doesn't get it spinning the way you want it to, the bushings in the starter may be worn allowing the armature to rub on the field poles. 12v will disguise the problem for a while. The copper in the cables should be between 3/8 and 7/16 thick. Thinner cables drop the voltage so much that the starter turns slow.
