I restored a 1943 Farmall H and to my surprise the base paint I scratched off was NOT red, it was BLUE. Does anyone have information whether or not Farmall ever used a BLUE paint? Are the rims painted white or silver, or both - that's the other issue I'm struggling with. Any help or a point in the right direction would be great.

If it is a 1943, that would put it in the middle of WWII. Maybe it was used by the government or military. I believe the Navy used tractors in the early war days to pull flying boats from the harbor. I have seen photos of Navy M's being used on farms during the war.

Hard telling what happened in the last 62 years, someone either painted them blue, or the tractor was ordered with blue paint -- Red was the only color that was standard. But, blue was used on many IH implements. The rims were originally galvanized, most people paint them some shade of silver. There is a lot of info in the archives on this.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I'll look in the archives too. I think I know where they are. Thanks again.
