Iam looking at a running but not running good 350 diesel. I have heard that parts are not available for the engine. The injector pump is a Rosa Master. Tractor supposedly ran good until setting for a year. I would like to hear the pros and cons from the experts on this tractor with this engine. Thanks in advance.

Got one on family farm that needed engine work-block replacement- works good now. about same power as early M, handy as H, good fuel use. Parts were found, but a bit high $$, a bit of waiting for delivery. Was family tractor so got fixed despite cost- about the same as new JD lawnmower. Still cheaper than new 35-40hp tractors. RN

I would buy it, I bought one a couple of months ago that was not running very smooth. I was lucky, I changed all the fuel filters, drained the diesel and put fresh in, pump was leaking(kit cost about $35, see if you can find a retired IH mechanic to rebuild it as I did, diesel shop wanted $500 to rebuild), pump timing was off. I fixed all that and she runs very smooth.

We never had thse tractors down here in the Mississippi Delta, I have had alot of people come by and look at it. I love the tractor!

To this day, it is my fathers favortie tractor he ever ran. They are fairly hard to come by, as well as the engine parts, but it is difinitely worth trying to get purchased. I don't know that there were flaws with the engine itself, just most people when they restore a tractor want to overhaul the motor. If it ran good when it was parked, I would try to get it bought. If the motor does go to heck on you, and you don't want to fix it, you could probably get out of it almost what you gave for it from another collector. Beings you are buying it not running. The last thing I would do would be to put a gas in it, those diesels are a tough find. Post over on the Red Power site and see if anyone over there can help you with the engine parts.

Would the German 310 diesel or 358 fit in that tractor? Hal

"Hal" no, they won't fit! :)

6 cylinder vs. 4 (too long for sure), probably too tall, and I think the engine/bell housing interface is a different size as well.

No pros to offer here!!
I"d pass on it - no matter how good it ran...
Engine parts are all but non-existent.
You could change the diesel out for gas 175, but you"d have to decide if the rest of the tractor is worth the trouble / expense.
Me? - I"d keep looking!!!
