Can anyone tell me the size of the arbor bolts on my single point fast hitch disk. This unit is a tandem disk with 4 blades per gang (total of 16) The threaded end of bolt is 7/8", which if round probably carries right through. From my experience with large disks, some arbor bolts are square where blades and spacers go.

I'm using the disk a bit every few days thus don't want to diassemble. Am wanting to pick up new blades to have for replacment when season is over. Just want be sure I buy right.

Hugh, I can't help on the size of the holes, but if I am looking at the right parts book, it looks like a square arbor bolt. I can look up some part numbers if they would be helpful.

Jim: Thanks, but I think based on what you saying plus the post by Mingo, probably 7/8" square shaft is right one. I have a feeling my best price on blades will not be CaseIH, thus part numbers may not be of much use. I think the blades on this disk were probably 15" or 16" when new. It just had plain blades on front. I think I'll look for notched blades for front. My back blades are still quite good. Again, thanks for your responce.

This disk rather surprised me, I didn't think it had enough weight to be much good for anything. I do wish it were 20 blade, would give little better width covering tractor width with tires set on 52" centers. But then I only disk about 2 acres per year, and I do have an S tine cultivator 6' on 4" spacings or 17 shanks. Now there is a cultivator that can make these little Farmalls snort. I remember when farming, these called for 1.25 hp per shank. If that be the case a Super A is more under rated than a 1066.

My book shows either 16 or 18 inch blades. They were usually even numbers so yours were probably 16 when they were new.

Should be 7/8 inch square on small disk harrows.

Mingo: Thanks for that info, Jim indicates his book is showing square shaft. I wanted to buy blades before dismantling disk. With fall coming on around here, disk blades can be a good price.
