Early last winter I sent out the free gas cap offer found on this web site, and recieved no reply. I sent it out again last spring. Well two weeks ago I recieved my gas cap for my Farmall H,and at the end of this week I recieved another gas cap for the same unit. So the ofer is still good, I think the wait until they get enough forms and then send out the caps. My question is do they have the smaller updated gas cap for the smaller starting fuel tank for the disalant fuel tractors ? If any one knows and how to get it, would be much appreciated and if any one knows a way to convince my wife to get anouther tractor to put under the extra gas cap, let me know. Thank you

Ian,

How do we go about getting this replacement gas cap? I heard about this quite a while ago, but couldn't find out anymore.

Someone else posted the form a week ago.I suggest that it get re-posted and placed under a closed thread called "FREE GAS CAP FORM",then we can direct all newbies to it via search function. Its obvious there are thousands of IH/Farmall owners that have yet to be aware of the program.
I pity Navistar's bottom line...these caps must be costing a fortune and will continue to for years ahead....

I agree. Guy that sued IHC did everything wrong, and now Navistar ends up giving away 10 million gas caps when they only built a little over 5 million tractors. The free cap is almost identicle to the ones used on the 756 that caught fire anyhow, except for the safety catch similar to what a radiator cap has.

Please correct me if I am wrong but Navistar is just basically the remains of the original IHC company and just changed its name to Navistar after they sold off their Ag line right? So why should Case be held responsible if IHC/Navistar made a faulty product before they were merged with IH? So if there is fault it would be with the owner at that time right? also Was the lawsuit filed before or after IHC sold the ag line. Thanks for helping me clear this up, I am a little confused. Plus I'm sure that navistar is tracking the serial numbers of the tractors they are issuing caps for. at least that would make sense. have a great day. PS could someone send some rain my way.

No, no caps for the starting tank. Reason for replacing the cap on the main tank is to prevent a build-up of pressure that would cause the idiot smoking a cigarette while opening the tank to burst into flames. Since distillate no longer exists and everyone burns gasoline in these tractors, the use of the small tank to start the engine on gasoline is no longer required, so no free cap.

I have a homemade tractor that uses a power unit off an IH baler. Nice tin like the H"s and M"s have. It"s a Continental motor, y69. Can I get a free gas cap for this and if so what would I put down for a model? oleblu

Not sure, but worth a try. Put down the model number and serial number that are stamped on the power unit's serial number tag. If the tag's missing, you're out of luck.
