Recently purchased a 1964 Farmall 706D with Flat Fenders. I understand that in 1964 706 did not come with Flat Fenders. So my questions: 1) Can the yellow lights be wired? 2) Will they flash? 3) Can the generator handle the extra electricity?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My 706 has a generator

The Flat top fender were and option and they came out in 63 and yes your genarator will handel the 4 lites to the ft. and one and only one to the rear now one thing to keep in mind is that the lite switch is the weak point in the system and as far as two flashing warning lites they came that way from the factory . You will have to make up a wireing harness for the fenders and the warning lites and the flasher mounts under the floor plate on the left side near the rear of the platform . I have switched a bunch over from clamshells to flattops . If ya want to add a second work lite to the rear then i rewire the system and use a couple CV relays as this saves the lite switch and i throw away the fuse and install two 20 amp circuit breakers as there is nothing worse then being in the back 40 at two in the morning and ten miles from the pickup and the lite go out because that sfe 20 amp fuse had enough for one day.

Why would you want your headlights to flash? That's pretty dangerous. In the first "on" position, you want the road light (inside lamp) on each fender and the lamps beside the fuel tank (if you've still got them) to be dim, the tail light lit up red, and the rear orange flasher on. The second position is the same, only the road lights should be on bright. In the third position, all headlights should be on bright, the rear lamp should be lit up yellow, and the flasher should be off. The generator will be close to it's max capacity, but you'll have a few amps left, and I'm sure you don't run for more than a few hours with the lights on. The switch is what I'd worry about. Add a couple relays.

Thanks for the information. I was not clear in my message and Do Not want the Headlights to flash. Currently there is No tail light or orange flasher. That is what I would like to install. This way, when driving on the road at night, someone does not run into the back of the tractor.

Pshaw. A couple of lights are a spit in the ocean in the generator capacity on that tractor!

However, they won't flash unless you install a flasher in the line going to the lights. It's just a turn signal flasher like what you can find at Wal-Mart. I believe the flasher is generally located under the deck of the tractor.
