There is a fellow near my house with a McCormick W4, W6, W9. Im not sure which one, but I know its one of these. All of the sheet metal is there, tires are bad, it looks mechanically sound, not missing any parts, but the engine is stuck. Any idea on how much it migh be worth? Give or take $100. Also, how could I tell what type it is? Between a W4 W6 or a W9?

A W4 here in central Mi. is for sale at $2400. It has rusty fenders poor paint job and recaped rear tires. The owner would not let me put it on a dyno,(yuppie type)so I walked. A W6 is for sale at $3200/obo. Power trol removed, good fenders, poor paint ,tires poor. It has been up for sale a long time. They just arent worth what they think they are.

I went back and looked at it again today. Looked at its ID tag and I know there is a 6 next to the model category. But I cant see anything ahead of the 6, as someone had damaged the area w/ a punch of some sort. The grill is not on it, and the left fender is M.I.A. but the owner say he has it somewhere. One rear tire holds air, and Im 95% sure the other rear will hold air. The two front tires are car tires. I looked into the exhaust pipe and seen water standing, about 3" from being to the top. The hood is rusted on the inside just as bad as the outside. Like I said, all engine parts are there, it apears that nothing was robbed from it. Rear tires may be 90% w/ some weather checking. Throttle linkage, choke and wiring harness is all non existant due to corrosion. Radiator has damaged area on it, ill be surprised if it holds water. I am in Florida by the way. I have a picture of it, but Im not sure how to put it on the forum, could yall let me know?

Post it over in stuck and troubled on the left. Follow the instructions

I wouldn't give more than about $100-200 for it, if you are looking for a big project. If the tire has sat for very long flat, it won't be good, a grille will be a few hundred, , new radiator, new motor (good part is being a W6 it will use M engine parts, W9 parts are significantly harder to find)...could see sticking $1500 to well over $2000 and a LOT of work into it just to get it running... More than what you would pay for a running example around here at least, and they aren't real common here either.

Being in Florida it might be more unusual (don't know, never been there) to see a W, and the guy may sell it, but likely as a parts tractor from the description.

As far as value, depends on a lot of things. Where are you? The standards are unusual in some areas and bring a little more. Which one is it? The W4 and W6 are worth more than a W9 from a collector standpoint because they are easy to move. The W9 requires more than a utility trailer to move as it can weigh anywhere from 7000 to well over 10,000 pounds depending on ballast.

That being said, I bought 2 W9"s in Colorado, one in the condition you say that one is in, one parts tractor (90% there, motor disassembled, tin decent) for $300, no weights on them, no tires worth a darn.

The serial tag will say W4 or W6 or W9 if the serial tag is on it.

The 4 is the same size motor of an H. The 6 is the same as an M, and the 9 is a very large tractor.

Value depends. If all there, and stuck, should be worth 500 to 900, regardless of which one it is. Good luck.
