Had this one give to me over the weekend. It's a Sergeant sawmill made in Greensboro, NC. It's small enough that when I get it reconditioned(not restored, mind you) that I think the F12 or the Regular or the H should be able to pull it just fine. ThenI can saw up some of this timber I've got standing around doing nothing and build a new shed for the girls(tractors, that is)

I doubt if the F-12 will be enough to pull your sawmill. At best you will be sawing real slow. As a youth, we had a small sawmill on our farm. It came from Sears and was actually made by Belsaw, I think. The MD was the tractor that pulled it. I recall once my Uncle belted the Super A up to the sawmill and was sawing. I came by a while later and the MD was back on the Mill. I asked what happened. He said that he wanted to see how the Super A would do with the sawmill. Evidently it wasn't enough, because as far as I know, the A was never hooked to the sawmill again.

Hi Kevin, Here is a picture of my neighbors 49 Farmall C hooked up to an old sawmill that I helped him to get running. I had to make a bunch of new bushings and soforth to get it into operation. The C was a little small on power and ended up using a larger tractor with with a friction drive rather than the flat belt. Thought you would enjoy the photo!

You're a lucky man. I too would love to have something like that to use with my H. With occasional sawyering needs, it looks like you'll get your lumber in the same amount of time it would take to get the appointment set up with the portable band-saw guy. Please let us know how it works out when you get it going - particularly the setworks operation and the consistancy of thickness in your cuts.

As long as this thing has sat in the woods, it may be a while before I can produce any lumber. I've also got to put in some serious time training. I'm no sawyer(not yet, anyhoo)

Wish I could find something like that in my area. But with gas prices I couldn't afford to make more then one or 2 boards lol

If lumber prices take off like they're warning about, you just might turn a profit.
