Questions about Cub Hydralic Pump

I have my cubs pump apart and have a very defined groove in the shaft coming out of the pump where it rides against a small seal in the pump housing. My question is does this seal simply keep dirt out or is this where my hydralic fluid is getting in the engine? There are o rings in the pump and would assume one of these is where fluid is passing by and going down the shaft and passing by the seal and into the timing cover and into the oil pan. I have checked prices of new pumps they are high.($420.00 US Dollars) I would like to salvage mine but need some help. I have the rebuild kit but dont know if it will help or not with the shape of my shaft. All gears and bearings appear to be in very good shape. Thanks

That O ring is where your fluid is escaping into the crankcase. You should be able to fit it with a speedi-sleeve and new O ring to solve your problem.

GNB:

Best I can do is point to the Cub Manual Server.

www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/index.html

Check out the Cub Maintenance Manuals - Touch Control and the Blue Ribbon Service Manuals - GSS-1024 Touch Control.

be sure and make sure you get the right rebuild kit from your local CaseIH Dealer -- yes it is available and there are two different ones..
