Hey Guys,

Forgive my ignorance, but are the 86 series cabs better than the 66s and older?

Have never been in one and wondered if they were an improvement?

Thanks,

Allan

Allan I say the 86-88 series cabs were the best cab on the market at that time. The only bad thing about it is the visability out the back. The only good thing I can say about the 66 series cab is the two doors. The year around cab on my 806 is 10 times the cab, compared to the 66 series. Thats just my two cents worth.

personally, i like most everything about the 86 series cab, with the exception of how the doors open forward. they are a pain to get in and out of. the doors on the magnums are much more easily accessable, and the 86 cabs would be much handier with a door like that. we operate a salvage yard and run an 886 and when you are in and out several dozen times a day, you wish for something better. don't get me wrong, i am IH to the bone, that is just one of my very few complaints

Allan: In my opinion the 86 series cabs have good and bad points in comparision to 66 series. They do keep down noise and vibration much better. However the ride is not as smooth and with the higher percentage of glass you better make sure the a/c is working. I found being closer to windshield in 86, glare was much more a factor than in 66 series cabs.

I operated a new Deere last fall, on wet days no one has figured how to keep mud out of the cab yet.
