this is what I have checked and changed out. I checked omms on the coil and came up with 12.43 checked the wire going from the points to the condenser. Changed to different points, changed to different condensor. I cant see any spark in the points and no spark with the cap on and wire hooked up to a spark plug. Any other ideas what I should check? Thanks Paul

I had one give me fits one time. The condeser wire was shorting when I put the cover on. I like to test run mags on the bench with a small cordless drill.

Is the magnet "magnetic"? Take off the coil cover, put the magnet back on,with an impact wrench turn the mag,in the right direction, and see if the spark jumps the safety gap,the peice that looks like a broken wire. If you have a spark there then it should fire. The problem with checking it with a plug is the plug has to be grounded to the mag.

Are you sure the mag isn't somehow being grounded
? That's how they're shutdown when stopping the engine. Check any wire connections for touching
the mag internally to ground. The area where you installed the points and condenser. Hal

Be sure to check the "basket" that the points mount in. This rotates to advance or retard the spark. Make sure that it is not grounded. It should only be grounded in the fully retarded (ccw) position. The secondary lead-out wire from the coil and condeser also rotates with this and I've seen them break right behind the basket.

Also, be sure you have the magnet on with the IHC logo facing out(to the right as you are looking at the points).
