I'll soon be sandblasting and painting the rear spoked F&H rims for my '37 F-20. I was wondering what the correct original paint scheme is for this style wheel. I have seen red hub & spokes with silver rims and all red paint schemes. Which is correct?

I don't envy you the task of sandblasting those spoked rims. I did my fronts and it was the most unpleasant part of any restoration work I've done so far. I still haven't done the rears.

Thanks for the help. All red makes them easier to paint (no masking). Which is probably why they came from the factory that way.

All red is correct for factory spoke wheels. I tell guys with weldovers that either red or galvanized rims could be "correct". Spoked centers with detachable rims, rims were galvanized.

The correct paint scheme for this type of wheel is all red. The only wheel that had anything different was the late cast style with the demountable rim. In this case the rim was a galvanized silver color, but not a bright aluminum.

I thought about that type Howard, but the set that I have looked like they were always red, but you could be right. Never way never when it comes to this old stuff!
