I just got a 1943 Liftall Owners manual and read it from front to back. I guess when one got it new to put on your tractor the hoses came with the kit because it just says attach hose with coupling as illustrated. Well I am trying to buy hoses with couplings and I thought this manual would tell me. I was wrong so can someone tell me what size of hose and once I remove the pipe plugs what size do I screw into the valves. Also the manual states something about a delayed valve lift (15120EX). Can you still buy this? Thanks for your responses.

i use 1/2 " hoses on my lift-alls. its much easier to pipe to rear of tractor and then have a quick coupler somewhere above pto. then a short hose from lift-all ram to quick coupler. as far as the delayed lift.....they are designed for a plow or other trailing equipment when you want the rear of the implement to raise a little later than the front. the oil will take the easiest path first, then go thru the restricted port. as far as that...that should be already on your belly pump. [that is what you have right ?] my dad used this on a 3 bottom plow when i was a kid. when he got to the end of a pass, the front of the plow would lift first and then the rear so the furrows were the same length. [somewhat] if you look on your pump, you will see 2 ports on one side and one on the other. they are designed for single acting cylinders with the port on the left front and the right side the pressure ports and the port on the left to the rear, the delayed port. good luck.

You may be able to get the delayed lift valve from Steel Wheel Ranch - check out www.steelwheelranch.com. I'm not sure about hose sizes but, in general, you don't want to restrict the flow with a too-narrow hose size so, since the pipes that come out of the lift-all are 1/2" NPT, I think you'll want hoses with the same ID.

Hi Trike,

When these old tractors came out, there were no such thing as "quick couplers" and the hoses usually stayed with your cylinders. Just remove the pipe plug and insert the hose between the street El on the tractor and your cylinder(s).

You can buy standard 1/2" hose at any tractor outlet or auto parts store. They will even make 'em up to the length you require. It is easier to have one end equipped with a swivel fitting also.

That external "rear delay" gizmo was/is nothing more than a "restriction" fitting in the line and I don't know of anyone who actually used the silly things with the old Hs and Ms. However, you can still buy restrictors at any store who sells hydraulic supplies.
