I purchased a bn from a fellow. He had removed the oil filter cover and used two bolts and some rtv sealant so he could use it. According to him they dont make the filters anymore. I know they do so where is a good place to get the filter element and does anyone have the part number for it. Also next question, there are two holes in the base I know one is for the bolt to hold the oil filter cover on, and I belive the other one is for oil to go through. It looks threaded to me so does that mean I am missing a piece and where could someone find one. Sorry for long post Mike from MI

Jim,
I wasn't sure if there was suppose to be a little pipe sticking up like there is on a allis model c, or if the previouse owner did what you said. The scary part is the man is a mechanic at my shop and lives right around the corner from me. And some of the stuff he did really and I mean really baffle's the heck out of me. Of course he knows it all. :) Thanks again MIke from MI

You are not missing anything. The smaller hole is an oil passage.

Billde,
I have the short one. Why is the tall one that much harder to change. I am just curious. Thank Mike from MI

Just made a trip to the shop, the short canister is approx. 5" tall. Fram number is C135.

All the major filter manufacturers still make your filter, you can go to their websites and get the number. If you have a local TSC store they carry that filter. Hope you have the short one, the long one is a pain to change.

Sorry I wasn't very clear, but what I meant was there are two holes on top of the base where the filter would sit. One is for the bolt that is used to hold down oil cover and there is a smaller one next to it. The smaller one is the one I am asking about. Thanks for you help. Mike from MI

Sorry, did not understand your explanation of the two holes being filled so he could use the tractor -- sometimes my brain simply does not connect to something as ridiculous as what the previous owner did.

I don"t have the lid off one to look at right now, but I believe the other hole has to be the oil inlet to the filter. The oil flows out through the hollow center bolt.

Don"t know of any reason for the side hole to be threaded, unless the previous owner threaded it so he could plug it with a bolt.

The hole to the rear is for the oil pressure gauge, the bottom hole is a drain. Filters are available from Case-IH and many other places, I believe there was a short and tall. The CIH number for the short one is 360430R91. If you have no CIH dealer, NAPA or someone can cross that number. The tall one is 360431R91. These same filters are used on the A through M, depending on serial number.
