We are looking for a small farm tractor with loader and wide front end. I found a IH300 with loader for $2250. but the deal fell through. What other Farmall/IH models would make a good small tractor? Would like to keep the price under $3000. Have a Farmall 460 that we use on my father in laws farm, so we have several 2 point hitch attachments. I would like something smaller here at home with a loader for snow removal, small garden work, getting firewood, and some dirt/brush moving and landscaping chores. Thanks for any help, Ash

Go to the local implement dealers with 3000 dollars in your pocket. See what you can get. That's the price of an inexpensive lawm mower. If you want a TRACTOR, a loader, a snow remover, a mower, a grader etc. I think you would be much more satisfied in the long run, to raise your investment minimum. Get something newer, more reliable, and more efficient. If you want a toy to work on, get into old tractor events etc, then buy an antique. Don't overlook the 30-40 hp Kubota line. I'd be willing to bet lots of the guys who love the old Farmalls have a different more modern differnt mfg, three point tractor lurking around the place. . I know I do.

Ash, I think I can hook you up with a guy that has a 460U with loader, and fast hitch.( loader valves need att. the loader won`t hold) West Central IL

The 424, 444, 454 tractors are a good older utility tractor. About 35-40 HP. But you will have to pay more than you were going to give for that 300 utility. The 424 series is Mid 1960s vintage. If you go with one of those, make sure it has power steering, as that was an option. Both diesel and gas versions available. In decent condition with a loader, you are likely looking at $4000 to $5000. If you want something older, the B414 and B275 are somewhat similar, and would be cheaper than the 424 series.

There is nothing wrong with the 300- 350 Utes (with power steering) 340 is also good. Less bucks, high value. Steering systems should be in good condition to demand 3000, Test it till it is hot, and shake the front wheels with them jacked up to check for tierod/spindle, and box wear.
