I have a 300 utility with a tilt bucket loader on it. The controls are mounted directly on the reservoir, below the seat and on the right hand side. The front and back on the bucket seems to work fine, raising the bucket works but lowering the bucket is the problem. Almost always the bucket comes down very, very slow and the tractor engine seems to pull down. Only rarely, the bucket will come down fast. If you turn the tractor off, it drops fast. I asked our local hydraulic expert, and he said to turn the switch on the front of the control, which I tried and the bucket would not move. Then, he said to hook the single hydraulic line to the other opening in the control, again nothing moved (except me when I reconnected it to how it originally was hooked up and got a shower in hydraulic oil). What's the problem? Thanks for reading this and any help is appreciated.

If its single acting,do they by chance have the 2nd line running back into the reservior drain? Mine was like this, and set to DUAL action.I removed that 2nd line, plugged it,and set to SINGLE action after moving from the outer valve to the inner one (where IH wanted it in the first place).

To PaulIH300,
Do I have this correct. Move the hydraulic line from the outer control to the inner control, and move the two lines for the bucket from the inner control to the outer control. Then turn the control for the loader to single action?

Thats the way IH instructed in its U34 loader assembly list.Thats the way mine is now and it does not labor when the single acting lift cylinders lower.

I spent a good part of the afternoon with the hydraulics on my 300 u. This undertaking was due entirely to the information I received from you. The final result was SUCCESS!
I ended up with the loader operated from the inside lever. I moved the hydraulic hose from the back hole to the front hole. The cam on both the loader and bucket are turned the same way (I can not read what it says, nor do I understand that). I have tried it several times and both the bucket and loader seem to work correctly now.
I just wanted to Thank You for the sound advise and help. Maybe I can help someone some day too!
I had no where else to go with this problem and you saved the day!
God Bless,
Jim

Well,it worked for me,so I figure it should work on every Ute.
When you do things the way they are supposed to be,things should work like they were designed. Why so many of these tractors have messed up plumbing is beyond me.Couldnt dealers read instructions 50 years ago? It wasnt like it was written in Chinese or anything.

Just a comment. I believe either the inner or outer control can be used for the loader. I have a 300 utility with factory power steering and a factory U34 loader that was installed when the tractor was new. My inner control lever (set to single acting) operates the loader and the outer control lever (set to double acting) operates the bucket. The 3rd control lever in the rear operates the fasthitch. I have owned this tractor since 1966 and it works great with the U34 loader. The factory power steering must have been added later as the 300 utilities did not have PS as an option.

I have a shop manual that shows power steering. I don't know, but I thought it was an option.
