Recently I "purchased" a 403 IH combine at an auction for a whole $15 Cdn. Machine runs great after sitting for 30 years!! Engine is missing a dipstick and wondered if anyone knew where I could find one for this IH gas engine. Maybe someone knows what other engine might have this particular dipstick. I'll be restoring this to its original red glory. Wanna help me find a decal kit?

If I remember right, it's a C-263. The engine model and serial numbers should be stamped on a flat spot just to the rear of the oil filter base. The best thing for you to do would be to go to your local Case-IH dealer, get the exact part number for your dipstick, and see if they can get you a new one. A dipstick from a tractor with the same engine may not be correct, since the oil pan could be different. If you can at least get the correct part number for your dipstick, a good combine salvage yard should be able to get you one.

That combine used a lot of engines, should be some casting numbers on the block to narrow the search. Hal

C153, C221, C263, C282 and 301

Congrat's on the 403, just got myself one the other day. It's a sweet machine. Compliments my 101! I believe a dip stick from a 460 will work. If i'm i wrong some one will correct me, but i think they are the same. Good luck on the 403. Now if i could trade my Gleaner K to a Model 82 pull type i would be tickled pink!!!
