Does anyone know if there is a kit around that allows you to put live hydraulics on a H?

Could check archives for Char-Lynn or Eaton live power pump that drive off of front of crankshaft for power steering and/or loader. Farmhand brand loader also noted to have had live hydraulic pump kit mounted on front of engine? Might find posting about water pump replacement double belt pulley with second belt to power steering pump. RN

No kit, but distributer mounted pumps from the Super H/300/350 will fit. You should also change the cam gear, as there is the possibility that it won't hold up under the load. Pumps can be found from salvage, rebuilt ones wipe out most of $600.

funny that this question would come up today because thats what im working on myself about two hours ago i recieved a crank adaptor that i had made its a two inch round stock turned down to 1 15/16 inch by 4 1/4 inch long. they center bored 1 3/4 and threaded to 1 1/8 by 18 thread they left three inches then turned down the other end to 7/8 inch to except the u-joint and broached an 1/4 key way . you have to remove the old hand crank run a shaft throught the old crank hole to the u joint mount pump on the out side of the front bolster at an angle , now like i said i just got my stuff together today havent put it together yet but i have seen one done this way it will work

I've been following your reports of this setup. Any chance of pictures? Let us know how it works out. Thanks.

Not unless you're extremely lucky. I'm sure M&W made a kit, and it could be retrofitted using IH parts, but that was back in the '50s and '60s. Your only chance of finding a "kit" is if you pull it off another H, or find one sitting around NOS. However, it will cost you a fortune if the seller knows what he has...

Nowadays, no way. You aren't going to go into the "tractormart" and buy a kit off the shelf that will bolt on your H and give you live hydraulics.

Live hydraulics on these tractors consisted of a pump that bolted between the distributor and the front cover of the engine, replacing the casting that is currently there. If yours has a magneto, fuggeddaboutdit. You need a distributor ignition.

Anything else will require special machining and fabrication skills. Or, you could just "cob job" an old power steering pump on the side of your tractor and belt-drive it off the crankshaft pulley.

The mount for the magneto and the distributor are identical. You can use either with a live pump. I have a live pump on my MD with a magneto ignition.

TB. Any good hyd. shop can get you what you need. If you want live hyd. drive the pump from the crank pully at the front of the engine. Morgan

I've seen after market live hydraulic kits on a few tractors. They run off the power takeoff and contain their own oil reservoir. Don't know who makes the. LOL

If the tractor doesn't have live PTO, that's not live hydraulics.
