M Radiator

I have had my radiator fixed twice by a shop that has done by me good in the past. The repair lasts only days. She seems to split in the same place (top tank, under hose). So either the over flow tub is blocked (not) or the cap is not releasing pressure (other options are good!). Does anyone know how much pressure is normal in a 44’ M?

Thanks
Mark

Steelwheel ranch has new ones for $215. I;ll bet it cost close to that to get the oid one fixed

Sounds like you are tring to use a high preasure rad cap on it, 14-17 psi. You need a cap with no more the 6 psi or you will have problems. A good rad shop can take your cap and adjust it to what it should be.

My MD cap is rated at 6psi, however the manual should list the correct cap. A radiator shop can easily test the cap for relief setting. A splitting tank should have a copper reinforcement soldered on with at least 1/2" overlap on each side of a crack/split. Solder has no strength as a crack filler, especially on a flat area of a top tank.
I'd say it was the shops responsibility to make it right. it is not trivial to remove the radiator!!
My opinion,
Jim Nicholson
