Getting ready to rebuild a carb. Will carb cleaner remove the old paint or is there a better method, don't want to gunk it up more that it is.

Rusty is correct. Disassemble and put everything in carb cleaner, not parts cleaner -- it will all come out clean, no paint.

I use lacquer thinner it takes off the paint. I've got an Oliver 88 carb sitting in it now By the time the kit gets here I will be able to blow
everthing off.

GOOD carb cleaner will remove paint and all the rest of the crud. If the cleaner you use does not remove the paint then you have wasted your money.
