When, serial number and/or date, did the C change from magneto to distributor? How hard and costly is it to find a replacement magneto?

No serial number or date, most probably had distributers, as distributers were becoming more common about the time C production began. But they were equipped either way. I have a 48 and 50 both with distributers.

Possibly--I bought the tractor at auction last spring and have hardly looked at it, not ready to work on it yet. It does have a generator with the cutout relay on top and the LHDB switch. Now that I think about it, I think that the mag tractors had a cutout relay, and the distributer tractors had a voltage regulator -- If this tractor has an original distributer, then I'm wrong. Interested in yours or others comments ---.

Super A changed at 286222, mid 1950. I don't have the number for the C, but imagine it was around the same time.

Are you sure that '48 C came out with a distributor, or could it be that it originally had a magneto and was changed out?

If I can piggyback here, I have a 49 SA with a mag. I think my mag is okay, the impulse sounds right, it's got new points and condenser but still no spark, so I think it might need a new coil. Can anyone tell me where to get the coil?
Thanks,
Bill in west-central AL
