I was going thru the brakes on my 756 today and the right bull pinion has some play in it. It makes no noises when running and seems to be tight in mesh with the bull gear. But the brake piston housing pinion seal was badly worn and the left was'nt. How much play should they have in them? The left one has almost no play. I hate to take the final drive off but I don't want to destroy more part's by letting it go if it's to loose. BTW the tractor has around 6000 hrs on it. Scott.

Depends if it's a early or late model. Early models can't be adjusted without removing the final drive. The manual says that if they rotate without any excessive binding or endplay, they're fine. If the endplay seems excessive, remove one .007" shim and re-check. Late models can be adjusted after removing just the brake, but it's kind of hard to describe the procedure. The way I read it, there should be no more than .007" endplay on a early model and zero endplay on a late model. You'll never get the brake seals to hold with loose bull pinion bearings.
