Does anyone have a source and part number for the starting carburetor rebuild kit for a Super MD?

Brought home the tractor yesterday and had it running after about 2 hours of frigging (technical term for messing). Starts on gas and switches to diesel ok, but runs poorly on gas and hard to keep running. Sediment bowl was almost full of crud (technical term for dirt and varnish) and I am sure the starting carb is in the same condition as no gas will drain out of the bottom petcock unless I remove it completely. I don't want to tear it off and apart until I have a rebuild kit in may hands. Thanks in advance for the info and help.

I believe Carter Gruenwald may have the needle and seat and Float. Otherwise Try Weber tractor works.
These are simple carbs consiting mainly of above items and gasket. You probably can take it apart and clean it up. Try not to destroy gasket. Parts are hard to find.

C&G doesn't have kits for the carb and I haven't been able to find them anywhere. Like you said, it is only a needle valve, seat and float. Since it is running, I will just disassemble, clean and make a new gasket if necessary. Thanks for all the help guys.

Case/IH should have the kits. Those engines never did run very well on gas any way. I havd a TD-6 and it couldn't even move its self on gas LOL

Try Webers, Tom Underwood (has many NOS parts and advertises in many of the magazines), or Glen Milnarik (Little Red Tractor Co.?) Sorry I don"t have the numbers handy since I"m at work. I drive my MD around on gas all the time if I just need to move it a few feet. I saw a guy at a show the other day start his WD-9 on gas and drove it about fifty feet down the aisle before switching to diesel while in motion. Looked impressive.

Old, those old diesels were not designed to actually be operated on gasoline, the compression relief valves have to be open which will greatly reduce the power, and there is no way to advance the speed of the engine. The gasoline function is provided only to warm the engine so it can burn the diesel. Case-IH may have the kit, but hold on to your wallet.

Rusty I know how they worked and all that, just sort of telling the guy they don't run all that well on gas. I had that old TD-6 for about 7 years and used it a lot but sure hated it when it stalled in the diesel side because it was a pain to restart.

All of them that I have been around ran very smooth and steady in the gas mode, maybe yours needed some work done?

That could have been the engine was wore out on it. But it also had been worked hard and never did get the tlc it need till after I got it and by then it was to late.
