Went to mow some grass the other day and just after I took off the dang thing went back to idle.Moved the lever - nothing happened. Got down and looked . Found nothing. Went to other side and pulled on linkage from governor to carb.that worked but connection up front from one side to the other no longer connected.Any idea as to what I"m looking at? Is it time for the junk pile? Thanks in advance for any help!! Cc

Take the governor off ( it can be done without removing the radiator) and look inside. The governor spring may have broken or the drive-pin that holds the fork to the shaft may have worked its way out so the throttle has no effect on the carb.
Not very difficult to work on.

cc: I'll go with Wayne's thoughts. I know it looks as though it will not come off without removing rad, however with some patient manuvering it will come. While you have it apart check the condition of thrust washer. In fact going to that work I would replace both the spring and thrust washer.
