I have a mower that from reading posts in the archives I believe it to be a 25 or 25v mower. What is the difference between the two? I also need to know how the pivot end of the cutter bar waw raised so it did not drag while being transported. I have not found a manual for it yet. There is a lever system on the back that hooks to a chain that hooks to a lever and then to a spring that attaches to the right rear v frame. I am assuming that this is to help offset the weight of the cutter bar when lifting. There appears to be some other attachment points on tube that the chain lever is on. There is an ajustable bar that attaches to the front right of the frame and to the head of the cutter bar, but nothing holds the head end of the cutter bar off of the ground when I raise the hitch for trans port. ( I have the mower attached to a drawbar on my 3pt hitch.) Any help would be appreciated and if anyone has the manual I need I'd be interested in buying it.

Thanks guys, Yes binders has them. I forgot all about them. I try to have manuals for all my equipment so I can read how to use them right after I try to do it myself;>)

John, I recently bought a 25V mower and have been looking it over. I believe that you have a 25V also since the counter spring is along the frame rail. The 25, I think, had a transverse spring, more inline with the cutting bar. There are more diffeences than that, some including the lifting mechanism and belt drive setup. The draw bar mounts look to be identical. I have both manuals and have been flipping through both and comparing over the last few weeks. It looks like many parts are identical. I believe the cutting bar, draw bar brackets, and tail wheel are the same. On an earlier post, some one said something about the 25 having a gear box. I think they both had a belt and eccentric drive with a wood pitman arm. No gear boxes. I found my manuals on eBay a while ago.

On the lifting, I think the lifting chain pulls the cutting bar vertical, and also lifts the bar mechanism off the ground. I have not played with mine yet to see if this is true, but that is how it looks to me. There is supposed to be a ring around the tube with a threadded bar tied to it. The threadded portion goes through a hole in the cutting bar to secure it for transport. I have to create this transport bar and the hydraulic lifts for it, along with a draw bar mounts. I can send photos of what I have to compare.

John, the main differance would be the #25 had a gear box between the pto and pitman flywheel pulley and the #25v had a v-belt. For transport, the cutterbar was manually lifted to a vertical position and a rod bolted to the bar held it there.
