I was up in the U.P. (upper penninsula of Michigan) and saw that some of the trees are already changing color. Isn"t that illegal in August? It was only a few and they were just starting, but it still reminds me that fall is coming. Fall is nice ( especially after this hot summer) but I can"t shake the dreaded feeling that winter is coming. I still have so much to do.
Okay, I"ll take a deep breath.....
I.....must..... .slow..... ..down..... .;>)

Still, don"t you think that"s early? Here in E central WI we shouldn"t see color for quite a while yet.
Paul

I can't believe you northerners are complaining about drought. Here in Central Alabama, we're about 5 inches above normal for the year, been dreary for almost two weeks, had to deal with one tropical depression and one hurricane already this summer. Vegetables rotting on the vine. We'd love to send some up your way if it's not too late.

Peobody, yeah, it"s been as dry as a popcorn fart around here this summer. We must be at least 5 inches behind normal this year. Crops are failing- not dying, just not producing. I wonder how all those boys in NE and ND are getting on. They got all of our rain this year. We"ve gotten basically one rainfall of 2 or so inches since the end of May. Too bad it can"t just even itself out.

Don't know about Nebraska getting all your rain! Here in the SE corner of Nebraska, we've gotten about 2 1/2" since the last week in JUNE and only about 2 1/2" durring JUNE. Rained .05" so far in August. Dry as a bone here - and HOT. Trees are turning because they are burning up. Had a CHANCE of rain last evening, got our usual 6 drops and it goes on by. Maybe a SMALL chance the rest of the week, but not holding my breath!

nebraska looks like they are getting their share tonight. We got 1 3/4" to 2 1/2" in southern Minn yesterday. Not a puddle in sight....

Trees in eastern Kansas are changing because they are trying to die from the drought. Genius weathermen say we aren't in a drought, but about 1 inch in 45 days seems droughty to me.

Crops are taking it in the ear (especially the corn!).

No worries Paul. I have noticed a few doing the same here in Ontario. It's just been sooooo oo dry here, stressin the trees out. Hate the thought of winter coming. I drive the rural roads each and every day in a fuel tanker. Winters tends to be a little hairy. Have gotten to know the plow drivers, been "rescued" more than once..... .....

Here in Ct, the weaker, dying Maple trees have started to change also. They do every year. The others always wait till mid - late Sept.
