Here's the problem, while removing the temperature probe from the head. the mount (I think it's a 3/4" fitting) broke off at the cylinder head. Need to find out how to remove the remainder of the fitting. The originag temp probe has a fitting that screws into the broken fitting. Will also need to know where to aquire a new cylinder head fitting.

The fitting is just a pipe fitting. Any decent hardware store should have one. If the gauge and sensor don't work, OEM type ones are available from many places.

The fitting is NOT just a pipe fitting. Even though it looks like a pipe thread reducer bushing, the internal thread is different, and there is a "step" or "ledge" down in the fitting the the lip on the thermal bulb seats and seals against.

You should be able to order a replacemetn through the CNH dealer.

Will keep that in mind. I do have a mess that looks like I wil have to cut it out using a modified hack saw blade.

I'm going to try to chisel it out without damaging the threads. Thanks for the info. After removal I will pay a visit to the hardware store. Wife says I have to get it fixed by Friday.

if it is not broke off to far inside, a small chisel and hammer works.

I believe you have to buy the whole unit to get the fitting, these days..

I do have one from a previous fix if you need one..

Thanks for the quick reply. Didn't want to go in with guns blazing and make a mountain out of a mole hill. Want to geep the damage to a minimum. I will most likely be willing to take the spare fitting off of your hands.
