I need some advise badly, I have a 1953 Super C. The tractor has been running great. I went out to move it last night and it cranked great as always, but when I press the clutch in and try to put it in any gear, it just grinds..... any idea why it would just quit working like that?

I bought a C that it would not go into gear without the throttle almost off then when it was in gear and you started to let the clutch out it made a really bad banging noise. We replaced the pilot bearing or throughout bearing and it worked just fine after that. Maybe not the problem but just an idea if all else fails.

Your clutch plate has probably stuck to your flywheel. This happens to me on a couple of my tractors.I usually put it in gear and crank on it in gear and sometimes that will losen it up.Last try ,is to make sure there is nothing in front of you for some ways and start the tractor while holding the clutch in and standing on the brakes. If you get it free, put something between the pedal and floorboard so that the clutch will not be ingaged when you park it.

My guess it that the clutch plate is sticking to the flywheel. Probably got some rust on it and frooze up on you.
