About ready to jump off a bridge - Week ago, took the carb off 574, float was sticking, flooded real easy - Cleaned everything out, now, can't throttle up without the choke, just dies. Searched the archives here, tried it all - Clean tank, lines, good fuel pump, strainers clean, had the carb off 6 times now - jets out, cleaned every port & hole, still the same, anyone know what i've missed? Float is now set level. Low mix screw has to be almost all the way in to run, shutoff sol. is working as good as I can tell. Before I part with $$$$$$ for a new or rebuilt, I don't want to miss anything easy. Any ideas?

Jimmy King - You are the man of the hour! Fixed her this morning. When I first took it apart, the venturi fell on the floor, boy I would have bet the farm it went in big end down like I had it - It seemed to fit the bowl casting better that way - WRONG - Goes big end up - Runs like a Swiss watch now - I bought this 574 new in '75, it's got 1600 hrs on it - When it's sick like this, I don't sleep good - Thanks Jimmy, if you ever get to Kent Ct. i'll buy lunch - Mike Van

Mike when I bought the 544 I had the carb was dripping so in the deal they were to fix it. When it was delivered it was running like that. A friend of mine fixed it didn't know what he did, because he was doing some other stuff on it like a major over haul?? Moral to story don't go look at a used tractor on a cold day and take your wife, you might not look at it long enought. About six months later the carb pluged up and I put it togather wrong, called my friend he came over took it apart turned the venturia, and this time I knew was he did. Glad I could help. Jim

Ya still have either a blocked passage or the selenoid is not opening , just for the heck of it pull the shutdown valve out and put your finger over the hole and try and start it and see if it will go . Doing a real good job on a carb is not as easy as everyone thinks .

if you can put a gauge on the fuel line from the pump. too much or too little pressure will cause this. maybe plugged pump if you did not push the crap out before you started it..
