I am restoring a '41 Farmall H. I put a new sleeve and piston kit in the block. The kit was an overbore with domed pistons for a high compression gasoline engine. I have two tractors so I may choose the best parts from both to make one good tractor. My first head was cracked and frustratingly thrown away by the machine shop. My second head was good and I had it redone at a different machine shop. I believe the head I have was made for burning kerosene. The casting number I believe is 8776D. My question is what difference will I have with using this head as opposed to a high compression gasoline if any? What should I expect?

Done the same thing to a M ,and the pistons hit the head. Not bad just a little took a small side grinder and made a place for the pistons to go. have run this tractor 12 years since. power is good ,but not as good as the super M I built so if you can find a gas head, or better yet LP gas head If they made them for a H don't think I have ever seen one.

you might have a little less power but with high comp pistons you should be fine.
