Power steering hydraulics

I was raking with my Dad's Super M this weekend using one of those hydraulic tandem rake hitches. The tractor has live hydraulics and power steering plumbed in via a diverter valve.

Every time I pulled the lever to steer the back rake, I lost power steering. Frankly, the tractor would've steered easier without the power steering at that point.

I'm wondering if we should've plumbed the priority circuit of the diverter valve to the steering, and the "bypass" side to the main hydraulics?

Yeah, but then the steering would work, and the hydraulic remote wouldn't, right?

Steering ALWAYS has priority over implement functions. Steering takes only a few GPM's, leaving at least SOME oil for hydraulic functions, at any speed above slow idle.

Hooked up the way you have it, the hydraulic functions take ALL the oil flow at low flow, leaving NONE for steering.
