H-4 Magneto Questions

I'm not real familiar with the H-4 magneto. I am trying to get one restored. It will put out a spark but it is only about 1/8 inch long and is fat and orange. It seems to spark consistently, but I want a hotter blue spark. The points look good, but I'm not sure about the condenser. It looks old. What is my first step? What is most likely the problem? It does seem to spark consistently when I rotate it with my air impact wrench. Thanks for your help!!!

Try setting the points a few thousands closer or wider. The best spark is achieved when they break contact at the moment of maximum magnetic flux so break timing is critical. Changing the gap changes the timing a little.

Thanks----I just discovered something. The point gap spec is 13. I read it three times and set them to 15. Maybe this will help. Thanks!!
