Gotta ask you to check out some pictures - this "230" looks an awful lot like the "C" that was posted with the belly mower, except for the hood, the rear hydraulic cylinder and the rock arms. Any guess as to what this really is? Before I start doing any real repairs, I probably oughta find out what model tractor I need to buy parts for. Thanks for any info!

NAT: how you doing. i bought a 844S international 4x4 tractor early 70's i guess. the tractor was completely rebuilt before i bought it by previous owner. anyways, i owned it for about 5 months and only put about 20 hrs on it and i noticed black oil on the inside of one of the back rims. next thing i knew i had NO BRAKES? there is a brake resovoir under the foot rest on the brakes similar to one on a big truck. my question is is this where i fill the brakes back up, with what kind of fluids do i use, and is the rear seal leak the problem with my brakes. i am not farmer i just bought the tractor because it was a good deal?

That's a real 230. No doubt about it.

Take a CAREFUL look at yours, then take a look at a C/Super C. The grilles are signifigantly different, just as I described.

Just as I said in my post, there's no curved bead on the hood where the C emblem would go. There are stainless "McCormick FARMALL" emblems on the sides of the hood.

Under the gas tank is a HydraTouch system, not a Touch Control system, just as I described in my earlier post.

That's a fast hitch with 3pt conversion arms.

Thanks for the info! I know power plants, turbines, generators, welding and machining - Just recently started needing to learn about tractors.
Gotta ask due to the post before this - are you in NC? I"m just south of Hickory. Thanks again for the info!

Its no C, thats for sure. I'm pretty sure you have a 100% original 230. Sweet tractor, wish it were mine.

Like Granny says, you can chit in one hand and wish in the other and you know what you got.

Have fun with it.
