I was just getting ready to order the sleeve kit for my 706 w/c263 on line off the internet. $465 for the sleeves, pistons, rings and pins. No gaskets or any thing. I decided just for the heck of it to call my local IH dealer for a price. I was pleasantly suprised. I ordered a complete engine rebuild kit. Incl Main Bearings, Rod bearings, Pistons, sleeves, Rings, pins and all the Gaskets and seals. For $695 And I dont have to pay shipping.
WOW!

Just another example! I lost the gas cap off my W4 so I figured I would get a cap for the kerosene tank at the same time, just ot finish it off. Gas Cap was 3" diameter $4.50 Kerosene cape was 1" diameter $28.75.

Never try to out guess an IH price, something you think will be $60 will be $400 and something you think will be $400 will be $60

My dealer is competitive also, but his "cheaper" kits are not Case-IH, I believe mine sells Tisco -- I have heard that they are quality kits. In the engine kit thing, CIH has a lot of competition from quality manufacturers, thus the lower price. Not true for hard to find parts for which CIH may be the only source. For routine parts, I have never been able to figure why a part that should cost $10 costs $100, and the other way around, also.

Try Seal Power stuff. I have gotten kits from the local auto parts and they beat them all price wise..

Kelly, I have also been pleasantly surprised several times at the local Case-IH dealer, and a couple of times I have experienced genuine sticker shock, but in the long run it pays to check with dealer first.

Rusty, I never know what to expect from my Case IH dealer! Last order was for all seals and gaskets for the rearend on my Super A including PTO and belt pulley seal, $160 with shipping. The week before all I bought a new govenor thrust bearing and 2 1/2 gals of hytran and the bill was over $50, you just never know, its allways an adventure!

Ring gear at IH is around $22 for the 113 engine.. But a brake return spring for the Super C was around $15. EACH Don't figure.

Priced a new style thermostat water pump carrier for my 756 german diesel at the local CNH dealer. Just a small casting about 15 pounds, $900 bucks, WOW. Found one in a salvage yard for $160. A year ago I priced tierod ends for my 706. They were $12 cheaper thru CNH than aftermarket and no shipping, go figure. It pays to always check with the dealer.

Yes I did and yes I did. I had hoped that it would take longer to start bugging me though.
It runs just fine. I could leave it go like the last guy and just live with it, but then I see that puff of smoke and go GRRRRR RRRR.
I just cant have that.
I want to keep this one so shes gona be right.
It also helps that my boss handed me $800 extra last week as a thank you for all the extra work I have been doing in July.
$800 off the house hold budget books is for sure going into some tractor around here.
