I have an early "50"s model C that has been sitting for many years without being started. I can"t turn the engine with the crank so it is "froze". The rims and tires both front and back are shot. I loved the old tractor when I use to use it even though there is no 3 point hitch. Is it worth restoring or are the old "C" not worth the bother?

I don't know much about Cs but on Hs, the hand crank linkage in front is commonly rusted unturnable. Have you tried turning it over with the starter? The engine may not be stuck. If not, that's one less thing to get it going again. If it is stuck, search the archives for the various ingeneous cylinder-soaking, wood-block pounding methods of freeing it up. I agree with old, to get it restored will be a not insignificant investment. On the other hand, you're ahead of some of us in that 1) You've already got the tractor and 2) it's had some significance in your life. I've heard a lot of stories where tractors that have sat for years have been started again without too much effort. Even if the process morphs into a nightmare you'd rather not pursue, you can get rid of the tractor more easily if you can advertise the engine as being 'not stuck'. My two cents would be to get the engine going and, based on how it sounds, decide if you want to go fully operational.

I'd fix it up but to go so far as restore you will have more money in it then you will ever get out of it.

I think I used the term restore incorrectly. My expertise in restore is get it working and a paint job (not to good of a paint job, at that) I think I will try to get it running as you guys say. It always ran real nice. It was much easier to start it with the crank than using the starter. One Crank and it was off and running. Using the starter was turnover turnover but no start.

Well if it didn't want to start useing the starter it means the starter was probably pulling to much power, which mean it probably needs the starter replaced or rebuilt. It should start as easy with the starter as it does by hand
