Hello all I searched YTMag Photo section for a Farmall C and looked at almost all of the 147 pictures. None with Woods type belly mower mounted. I also started looking in the Farmall forum for comments about Woods type mounted on C or SC etc. No picture found yet. Anybody have a picture they could post on the photo section of YTMag for me and others to see? Thanks everyone. agpilot

Here are a few pics of our 1948 C with Woods mower. That's a Woods mower under all that paint (we didn't do it!).

Ask and ye shall recieve - Scruff's are of a 1950 C with a L59 deck - mine are of a 1950 C with a L306 deck (6ft vs. 5ft for the L59). His also comes off the side PTO where mine comes off the rear.

OK - I really hate to show my ignorance, but I gotta! I recently aquired a 230. I"ve got it running now, and did a temporary patch on the radiator - when I get some extra cash that"ll be taken to a shop for a real fix on it, though.
First, what"s the difference in a "C" and a "230" - judging from the pictures you posted, the only differences I can spot in your "C" and my "230" is the decal and the "C" doesn"t look like it has the hydraulic cylinder for the 3-pt hitch. Next question, I was planning to get a belly mower for the 230. The hydraulic pump on the 230 is out - part of why I was able to get it. Does a belly mower even need the hydraulics to work? Looks like a mechanical adjustment on yours. Thanks for any info!

No, the mower isn't mechanical adjustment. If you look at the top of the chain, it's connected to the hydraulicly driven rockshafts. And no, hydraulics are completely unneccesary for the mower. It just makes it nicer to raise and lower the deck.

A 230 is basically just an updated C. There are some pretty signifigant differences between the 230 and the C, though:

230 has disk brakes.
230 has a "450" style grille that's higher than a C hood. The grille styling is somewhat different, with fewer, larger slots in the grille than a C. That curved bead where the "C" emblem goes is not supposed to be there on a 230. On the 230, there's a rectangular indentation in the side of the hood where a stainless "McCormick FARMALL" emblem should go.
230 does not have a Touch Control. There's no rockshaft lift under the gas tank, only a hydraulic reservoir.
230 usually comes with a fast hitch, a "2pt"

If your tractor looks like a C, then it may not be a 230. Or, it might be a 230 whose hood got smashed up and replaced with a C hood.

Jay (ND): Where did you get the shield for the pulley? Is there a Woods part number?

According to my book, the part # is 25560 and it's called a Rear v-belt shield (naturally). Also required are the mounting bars which are #0101463 (left shield attachment strap) and 11462 (right shield attachment strap). It's all held together by about 4 3/8" bolts with washers and wing nuts.

OOPS - how did those zeros get in there? The left strap should be ##11463.

Jay (ND): Appreciate the parts info, thank you! Ours came without (from RPRU) and I wasn't looking forward to mowing without it!
