What are the obstacles to putting a 666 or 686 diesel into a 460?

Now why on earth would you want to spend that kind of money and labor on a 460 ???? and what would you have in the end ??? You are better off keeping it stock or as close to stock and it would cost less If ya want a 666 or 686 then buy one And have more tractor . Heck ya might as well put in a 5.9 cummins and go for 400 hp.

Possible problems? Bell housing bolt pattern to match engine, clutch size interference, front end mountings. Note 460 rearend strength- 'H' farmall was its grandfather design, might be a bit light. These possibile things just to check- how about difference in actual engine size, have you checked length/width/height?. Archive a few months back had discussion of differences between 460/560 engines. This help any? RN.
