Today it has been 30 days since we have gotten any rain in NE Nebraska. It"s been over 90 deg. about every day since the Fourth, and is supposed to hit 100 this weekend. Not too sure how much it is affecting the corn and soybeans, looks decent so far. We had pretty good rains this spring, so there was good subsoil moisture, I suppose. But I am concerned if this keeps going on much longer. I don"t irrigate and there isn"t much irrigation in my neighborhood.

I heard its been real dry in Indiana and Illinois also? How is the moisture situation elsewhere in farm country? Is it doing anything for grain prices?

Here in northeast iowa we have been very lucky. The end of june we were getting dry. The weekend of the 4th of july we got over 7'' of rain, most of it come decent had very little run off. This week on the 19th we got a half inch. The 20th another half inch. This morning over an inch. Crops look good. Sorry to hear so many of you are so dry. In 1988 and 89 we dried out and it hurt, I feel what you guys are going through.

Here in NE Wisconsin, it is extremly dry. I received about 2 tenths yesterday... the first in the rain gauge since about June 10th. I have one small field of corn on sand that is lost. Such a shame, it was chest high in the middle of June.

Looks like the CBOT thinks the drought is over. Took 30 cents a bushel off the corn this week and about 70 cents off the soybeans. :>(

Dry here since about 21st of June and lots of heat. Lighter soils are already damaged and getting larger. :>(

Dunno what's going to happen, guess we'll know in October...

We had near record rains here in east SD in June. But none since 21 June. And lots of HEAT since the 4th also. Alfalfa has been spectacular. Field nearby has produced 5 tons per acre already, and expect to get two more for total of 7T/Ac.That field was planted last spring. Fertilized once last fall, and is not irrigated. But out west near Rapid City they are already buying hay. Our corn is just tasseling out, still looks good at the bottom But the leaves are shrinking some. But no rain also means no hail and no tornadoes.

It's dry here in the East. We've had good rains this month, but the sun and wind dries the ground very quickly. Some area's like TN have gotten too much rain at once, causing flooding. If hay and corn silage is in short supply, look for milk
and most milk products to cost more.

Last year most farmers had bumper crops in corn
and hay, since we had a lot of rain. Hal
