Thanks for everyone"s help yesterday, I got my IH/Danco C-3 mower mounted on the 1951 Farmall Cub. ONe of the shields says Woods so I was really confused until you guys helped out.

Anyway, it came with 1 very long Woods-brand belt which I finally got stretched and twisted and looking like it would work (seller claimed it did). However it kept jumping off at high speeds and finally snagged and broke.

Looking on this board and at a copy of the manual, it appears the C3 should have 3 belts, not 1 long one. Does anyone know the length of these belts? If not I will try my CaseIH dealer. Thanks in advance.

Hi Brent, I called Hoober in Delaware and they have belts (3) for the C3 mower with the fasthitch. You need to tell them which hitch you have. The cost was $56.00 for the 3 belts. The matched set of 2 that are driven by the center pulley has the P/N 478263R1. I think these 2 would be the same with either hitch. Hal

Does your pto pulley have the 3/4 wide flange. The other two are 5/8 wide. Those were the width of the one i sold. It came with two extra sets and went with the mower. It was also for an A. Check the width on the top center pulley on the deck and see if the spimdle has a wider flange than the bottom two. I mite be describing a different mower also.

Brent:

Sorry, I can only help so much. As you probably know the C-3 Mower Owners Manual is on the Cub Manual Server at the url below. Unfortunately, I do not have a Parts Manual for it yet. I really am hoping that someone who has the C-2 and the C-3 Danco Mowers Parts Manuals will let me know as there are many who need it, including me....

However, that said this I can guaranttee you. If you talk to Bermuda Ken Updike at www.cngo.com - Carter & Grunewald, Ken WILL be able to give you the correct part numbers and probably have them enroute to you tomorrow. UPS and USPS can work wonders, especially when you run into parts guys like you have already.

Ken is good people and really knows his Cubs and Cub Implements and Accessories. Give him a call, count on it - he can deliver.

Hope this helps.

Tried that this afternoon. Dealer 15 miles away said their dealership wasn't around when that mower was made so he gave up after 15 minutes and sent me to a dealer 30 miles away. That guy cussed the pictures in his old manual for not having part numbers. He finally found a CD-ROM with the C-3 but it only showed 2 belts, a drive belt from PTO and a second belt than ran around the right, left, and center spindles. My manual shows 1 drive belt and a separate belt from center to right and center to left. He gave me 2 parts #'s, 474080R1 and 474081R1, and said they were $40 each. Anyway, I think I better try a third dealer to see if they can find the three-belt setup. I am sure the left and right belts are probably the same part #, but at least it should indidcate in the book/picture it takes 3 total.

Send an email to bhershey@hoober.com or call 1-800-732-0017. They're in PA, but they will give you the correct part numbers. Just ask for farm equipment parts, they have garden tractors too.
Send that email out today and you may have the numbers on Tuesday. You may be able to cross-reference those IH numbers to Gates. The IH dealer in my town isn't as good as they were years ago. Hoober has 4 dealers, 2 in PA and 2 in Delaware. Hal
