My neighbor fixed up a 1940 H. I have been pulling the tractor in the local antique tractor pulling circiut and I have no power. The engince had new rings put on but still has orignal pistons and manifold for from the two fuel system. I have read of a heat damper in the manifolds and was wondering if that could be my reason for loss of power when it gets a load on it. Any tips or info would be nice

Knew I had it somewhere.
Compression ratio for gas was 5.9:1
for gas-distillate 4.75:1 and for kerosene 4.5:1.
That starts you out in the hole for pulling. The gas had about three more horse power at the drawbar. With the kerosene manifold and buring gas, you are vaporizing the gas way too much and getting less into the cylinders. At least that was the way it was explained to me [admittedly about 25 years ago]

The compression ratio is different for the kerosene engines. They have different heads and valve assemblies.
the gas version had the cold manifold. Your manifold should have an adjustment or heat control valve.
The simple answer to your question is yes. The manifold is heating the gas too much causing a loss of power.
Too run on gas today I would change the manifold and carburetor. Just my two cents worth.
Good luck
