I could use some help. I have a 53 Super M Late Model with the Choke control on the left side of the carb. bowl( not the engine side). Is this normal or has it been changed ? If this is normal for it to be like that does the choke rod go directly to it on the outside of the carb.If not how is the choke rod feed to it. Thanks for the help.

It sounds like you have an M carb on a Super M. Not a problem for the choke, except I believe the Super M carbs were jetted differently to take advantage of the added power. On my Super H (a similar carb, but not the same as the SM) with the choke attached to the block side, max power is obtained with the main jet screw adjusted 5 turns out. If that is the case, then the main problem is that your carb will not allow the engine to develop as much power as the SM one -- others can correct me.
