Found that magic timing mark tonight and finally got the 460 running like a champ. Powers up real nice. Thanks for all of the help and excellent advice here from JakeF, Jimmy King, Bob, Aces, Brian in NE and others. I sanded the main pulley and found two lines on the damper about a half inch apart (no numbers or markings otherwise). On the first round, I timed it 180 degrees off. The second round, I hit the right spot and she took off with just using the starter, no pulling. Smokes and sounds really good. Harold was glad to hear her go; he bought the tractor new in the early 60s. He powered it up and listened real close. Have a few issues to work out with the voltage regulator, etc. Thanks again.

Ron, I'm glad you got it running that 236 and the 263 are the smooth'est running engs made when right. I have been there and done that 180 out, will start by pulling, but no power at all.
