Does anyone know if these tractors had inherent problem areas? Thanks again!

My brother's 454D was bought in 72 and has over 15000 Hrs on it. No major problems. The steering control valve leaks a little hytran.

Major problem with these UK designed models is: if someone forgets to release the parking and starts driving it, then the parking brake band lining will shred and be in the hydraulic oil clogging filter etc.

The other minor problem on the Diesel model is the lip seal on the drive shaft of the fuel injection pump will wear and leak Diesel fuel into the crankcase. The seal is only about $8.00 but have to remove fuel injection pump to replace. The reason the seal wears out is the Diesel fuel today has less lubricity today than it did 30 years ago. The solution is to add a small amount of Diesel fuel conditioner every time you add fuel to the tractor. Some people use a couple of table spoons of GM automatic transmission fluid every time they add fuel.
