I thought that this issue should be re-visited, it came to my attention that these glass jars are actually very useful in capturing little things that the red tactors suck up, I have even seen little green things that resemble tractors in there, bugs and other types of little pests.

Seriously, why the little green tractors in there

With all due respect and affection

I'm surprised you haven't gotten a real answer on that yet. The way it was explained to me, it is supposed to indicate that an International will suck up a John Deere and spit it out the tail pipe. Childish to my mind but evidentily amusing to others.

Well! Let me educate you, the real reason that "THOSE" tractors are painted green in the first place is so they can easily just hide in the grass and watch the real (red) tractors get the work done. The pirpose of the glass is to catch dust and other foriegn material before it gets to the oil bath and really clogs things up. Now, if you are out mowing with your Farmall, and a green tractor is hiding in the grass, well, I guess you know where that foriegn material will end up. My H has one captured and it only has to mow short grass. I don't know where that green thing came from, but so far it is not causing any problems so I guess I will leave it in the jar for awhile.

Mine sucked one in too. I think it got caught in my dust that it was eating.

Although the little green things can be pests, I would never honor them by attempting to deride them.

They are best ignored, they don't deserve any recognition.

By the way, do you know why there are more JD's in collecitons than Farmalls?

The Farmalls are still working.
