I noticed Bob Melville's article about the step by step conversion on a distributor setup from 6 to 12 volt? How would this work with a mag? I am wiring an MD if this helps.

Doesnt the MD have a 12 volt gen on it any ways. And dont ever hook any power wire up to a mag or you will be looking for a new one. JON

You do not need any ignition voltage to a mag, mags are self firing if they're in first class condition. New points, condenser, cap, rotor,
coil and wires. You do need a way to ground out the mag so you can shutdown the engine. Hal

Best I can recall on the MD, switching over from gas to diesel also grounds out the mag on the MD.
