Geting ready to go to work (if it ever stops raining) and was greasing '46 "A". Took plug out of lower right side of stearing gear housing and got clear water, then brown muddy grease. Took small back plug out next and looked like had been same stuff inside. Top one had heavy looking grease inside it. What grease should be in it and do you fill up to the bottom hole facing the wheel or the little hole facing the seat? Thanks in advance.
Stan

Holcomb, Originally the steering box was filled with gear lube, but through the years because of leaking seals and such, alot of the guys just install a grease zerk fitting on the top of the steering box and fill them with plain old grease! That would probablly be your best bet unless you want to completely disassemble and install all new seals!
