One of my Hs I use daily, after backing would not shift properly.Wouldn't move forward. Finally got to 2nd gear at "neutral" position. Shift won't move to right at all (toward 3,4,5) Can move to 1st or Reverse but seems like bound when releasing clutch, will stall it. HELP! I need this machine up for next round of hay, hopefully without breaking in half.

All three were misaligned when I got it opened up.Seems like more wear on center slot than shifter. I got it up and operating normal in under an hour. Thanks for helping a girl out guys!

MagMan --- has got it right...I would like to help reparing the shifter...look closley at the ball on the bottom end of the shifter...decide where the ball has wore away...build up by welding/ grind into shape...replace ....ready to shift ....this is a common problem with the older Farmalls..... even the Cub Cadet lawn/garden tractors....good luck... You will most likely need to take the shifter straight up and out there are two little caps under the bell that you need to get out and then a pin that you push out thats under them once you get the shifter out of the way you take a big screwdriver and you need to move the rails all even into nutrel position. If you look with a light you will see. They get stuck in to two gears becuase of the bottom of the shifter gets worn down the fix would be a new shifter or someone rewelding the ball back up on it.
