I just put a sickle mower on my H. Every thing is ready to go but I can't seem to find a belt for it. does anyone know a good place to get one? I live in central Minnesota. I couldn't get one from Napa and International didn''t have one either. The belt is 3/4 by 52". Also it might help if I knew what model the sickle was. It mounts on the back of the tractor and has a single wheel in the back with a 7 foot bar. Any info would be helpful. Thank's Dale

I looked on the implement photo gallery and the mower look's like a 27v model and I went back to the International dealer. the parts man found the right belt for the mower. I went over to the neighbor's field and gave it a try. the mower seem's to work pretty good, but the operator needs some work.I've found a few more bug's to work on but they are a whole another deal. thank's for the advice Dale

Dale, were do you live in Minnesota. I grew up on a dairy farm east of Sauk Centre. I now live near Rockford, Illinois. Here is a picture of my restored IH 27V mower on my Farmall H. Works great! Got all my parts for restoring it at the Case IH dealer. Good luck with your mower.

Ken I live in Monticello about an hour or so down I-94. I get up that way once in a while. They have a nice thrashing show in Albany I try to make it to every year.that's a nice looking mower . I used that picture to show the parts man what kind of mower I had. The mower I have must of had a hand lever at one time to adjust the hight.I really don't have a way of adjusting the hight of the mower. Maybe I'll get around to figuring something out in my [spare time].

Jim, I think this mower had a hand lift at one time also. Someone before me had some kind of a chain lift on it like it went to a arm of a 3 point or something. A gentleman from this web site sent me pictures of the hydraulic attachment from his IH 27V Owners Manual. I used the pictures to attach my hydraulic cylinder. The cylinder is only used to lift the sickle bar up on corners and for short transportation. For cutting height there are "shoes" at each end of the sickle bar that the sickle bar slides on when cutting hay. You take bolts out and make your height adjustments on these "shoes". You may want to find a Owners Manual. I wish I had one when I was restoring mine but I got it done with the help of the good people from this site. Good Luck!
Ken

If it was hand lift, it was probably a 25 or 25V. There is a picture on page 9 of the Jan-Feb '05 Red Power.

Nothing like having the model number. Case/IH has a lot of parts for their mowers. Hal

Hi Dale, Send an email to mtobias@gates.com or

Take a look in the yellow pages under "belts & hoses." Out my way we have a place that deals exclusively with Gates belts & hosts, and they can literally match or cross-reference any belt in existence.

If you've got the old belt, you're golden. No belt? You're still in good shape if you can find that place that does belts & hoses.

NAPA is not the only place that sells belts. Do you still have the old one for correct measurements?

Dale and Hugh, my dad bought a new mounted IH sickle mower in 1970. It is a model 200. It is a very nice mower, especially with a 2 point hitch. Dale i don't know the model number of yours, like Hugh says we need a picture to look at. Thanks.

Dale: There are several semi mounted mowers that fit that description. IH probably started building those around 1930 and continued until about 1965. The basic mower changed very little over the years, but the model number changed several times, I guess with each improvment. We almost need a photo to be sure.

Hi - I just put a belt on my IH mower However the size was 7/8" x 51", double check the width of your pulley at the very top edge. Most heavy trucks use these wide belts or try a lawn mower shop for riding mowers. Also www.besttorq.com is pretty cheap however the are not USA belts. I would order one though a truck shop or parts house.
