I have purchased a used K5 loader to put on my 856. The mounts that came with the loader are off of a 5140 Maxxum. I need to modify these mounts for my 856..easy enough I guess. The question I have is the location to mount the mounts..... In back of the frame rails at the clutch housing there are three bolt holes. Should I try to mount to these holes in addition to the holes on the frame rail?? I will be using the loader to handle dirt, snow, and heaviest of all, big round bales.

Well, the IH 2350 loader mounts to directly the frame rails, and we've been using one mounted like that on a 756 for going on 20 years now, and nothing's broke yet.

I would suspect that the loader won't reach back to the bell housing, but maybe it will. You kind of need to mock it up on the tractor to see where it will sit.
